2K Games has announced that Kobe Bryant will be the star of the cover of NBA 2K24, the next installment of its successful basketball video game saga. At the same time, the distribution company of the title has also announced the Black Mamba Edition, of which more details will be revealed tomorrow.
NBA 2K24 does not have an exact release date, but it is scheduled for September of this year. The video game will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Bryant has graced the cover of ‘NBA 2K’ four times
This is the fourth time Kobe Bryant has graced the cover of NBA 2K games. The player known as Black Mamba also appeared in NBA 2K10, NBA 2K17 Legends Edition -delivery that coincided with the year of his retirement- and NBA 2K21 Mamba Forever Edition -year of his death-.
Bryant died in 2020 in a helicopter crash in which the helicopter lost control, likely due to fog, and crashed, killing nine. At that time, the NBA 2K21 player community asked the company responsible for Black Mamba to occupy the cover of the next installment.
NBA 2K is a basketball video game series that has been developed and published annually since 1999. The latest installment follows in the footsteps of NBA 2K23 which, although it was a bestseller, also received different criticisms related to the incorporation of microtransactions in the game.
