Jules Marchantformer Boca Juniors soccer player and Director of the Unico Madre de Ciudades Stadium, assured this Friday that “there is a lot of expectation” for the U-20 World Cup in Santiago del Estero and that the people will “accompany” the team led by Javier Mascherano.
“There is a lot of expectation for the World Cup, the people will accompany the team and it is good because it speaks of the fact that we are a province that wants to support the team”said Marchant in an interview he gave to Télam.
The Madres de Ciudades will dress in light blue and white once again, just as they did in the friendly of the world champion against Curaçao, with a 7-0 win, on March 28.
“The experience with Curaçao has been an event that is difficult to forget for all the people of Santiagofor having the brand new world champions, and now people show that they want to continue accompanying the Argentine team with this Under-20 team,” Marchant told Télam.
The former Boca stressed that the feeling of joy over the passage of the Scaleneta in Santiago del Estero continues in the air: “That is latent. We Argentines are very soccer fans and there is still the breath mode and the vibe for the National Team. And that will tomorrow and whenever the national team plays; this time it will not be the exception”.
The expectation is such that the tickets sold out to see tomorrow’s debut against Uzbekistan.

“We are all happy to receive the World Cup, which is something so important at the sporting level. With the best expectations that everything goes well, that it is a beautiful show and that people can enjoy it,” said the former Boca.
Marchant, who also wore the Racing, Unión de Santa Fe and Banfield jerseys, considered that Mascherano has “a good chance of continuing to demonstrate his ability” with his return to the team, after Colombia’s post-South American resignation.
“I think that in his capacity, I trust that he can do things well,” Marchant said of the former captain of the Argentine national team, who decided to return before the management of the president of the AFA, Claudio Tapia, and Lionel Scaloni.
“Like any project, the results are sometimes good and sometimes not. Personally, I like that I can have revenge and hopefully this World Cup is where I can demonstrate it,” said the former Uruguayan national.

The director of the Santiago stadium also placed his trust in the youth team, despite the losses of Alejandro Garnacho, Nicolás Paz and Facundo Buonanotte: “There is good material. Hopefully they can demonstrate it on the field and with the support of the people they can capture it” .
Likewise, he complained about the position of the European clubs by not giving in to some of the young Argentine stars: “We already know how they manage; a pity.”
Finally, Marchant reminded Télam of his time with the U-17 youth team that competed in the 1997 World Cup in Egypt: “Playing for the National Team is a motivation that cannot be compared with anything else. It gives you the chance to show yourself, both for those who They have already debuted and those who haven’t, it’s a huge showcase”.
