With a meeting in the San Martín de Porres parish in the Buenos Aires town of Moreno, they began on Wednesday night the acts in memory of the figure of the priest Carlos Mugicacommitted to the option for the poor and popular struggles, which was assassinated 49 years ago by the Triple A vigilante organization commanded by the then Minister of Social Welfare, José López Rega.

“Meeting Mugica has to be a challenge that we all have to have. And he added: “His figure inspired many political leaders who make politics committed to their people. We have to transmit her inspiration everywhere, in schools, universities and mainly through the neighborhoods”.
For his part, Larroque recounted in the first person: “I had to meet Mugica through the militancy in the popular neighborhoods with his compañeros and compañeras from the Villero Peronista Movement. Mugica allowed us to reach Peronism in difficult times in the 90s. We found in her figure the possibility of building ourselves as Peronists from the neighborhood and of a spirit that remained permanent in the hearts of her companions and companions.

Within the framework of the day, Solidarity activities were also carried out in clubs in the Province of Buenos Aires.
Finally, a work by the plastic artist Alejandro Marmo, who represented Father Mugica, was inaugurated.

The Carlos Mugica conferences take place in October and May, months in which his birth and martyrdom are commemorated respectively; and their objective is to specify community actions and the elaboration of documents of collective thought, the organizers explained.
On the other hand, The Team of Priests who work in the Villas of the popular neighborhoods of the City of Buenos Aires and in the suburbs will begin this Thursday a series of commemorations which will last until May 11, 2024, when half a century of this crime will be fulfilled.

The schedule of events
The celebrations will begin this Thursday in the parishes of Cristo Obrero and San Francisco Solanoin which Mugica gave mass and granted the sacraments of the Church.
At 11, The activities will begin with the inauguration of a hermitage in the Playón of the Mugica neighborhood, in Retiro.
At 18 there will be a mass in the Cristo Obrero parish of the 31st neighborhood of Retirowhere his remains rest, and there will also be a torchlight march from Juan Salaberry Square (in Alberdi y Pilar, Mataderos) to the San Francisco Solano Parish, in the town of Villa Luro.
At 8:00 p.m., in that parish, located at Zelada 4771, where Mugica was assassinated 49 years ago, a mass will be celebrated.
While, on Sunday there will be a mass and a popular festival in the parish of Cristo Obrero between 10 and 16.30 to “start the path towards 50 years”.
