Pokémon Sleep, the new Pokémon game that works by monitoring our hours of sleep, will go on sale this coming summer. This curious –and disturbing– application, initially announced in May 2019, will be available for iOS and Android devices and The Pokémon Company has published two videos showing how it works.

The game has been developed by the Japanese studio Select Button and is supervised by Niantic, the American company responsible for the popular Pokémon Go. According to its creators, the application “seeks to offer a fun and enriching experience for players by making the time they spend sleeping and the moment they wake up in the morning have an impact on their game.”
Similar to the normal Pokémon games, the premise of Pokémon Sleep will be to carry out an investigation. This time, however, the objective will not be to study these creatures, but to help Professor Neroli and Snorlax –a Pokémon known for sleeping all day– their sleep patterns and how Pokémon sleep.

Judging by the videos that have been shown, the application will work in a similar way to the mobile alarm clock application. The player must indicate what time he goes to bed and what he wants to wake up. In addition, thanks to a small Bluetooth accessory called Pokémon Go Plus+ that will be placed on the bed, the application promises to analyze the different sleep states of the user.
The Pokémon Go Plus+ accessory is an evolution of the device marketed in 2016, coinciding with the publication of Pokémon Go. In addition to being used to interact with Pokémon Sleep, it will also continue to be compatible to play with the popular game based on geopositioning.
