Elon Musk has delivered. The Twitter boss promised earlier this month that tweets would show how many views they’ve had, much like videos already do. This new tool, as the tycoon has announced, has already started to work for some users.
For practical purposes, it is not a feature that is too new and that is going to make Twitter a better place. For a long time, Twitter users have been able to activate their account analytics to see all the impressions of their posts. It’s as easy as tapping on the graph icon that appears on each tweet.
This novelty, called View Count, allows all users to see the views of all tweets, their own and those of others. This could not be done until now, since the user could only know the impressions that his own tweets had had.

In this sense, those who already have this function activated will be able to see with a simple glance how many views their publications have received without having to leave the tweet in question. This information will appear next to retweets and likes.

Quantifying the tweeters who watch, but do not interact
Musk has explained that this tool should serve to have a better x-ray of the health of Twitter. The South African understands that “more than 90% of Twitter users read, but do not tweet, respond or like”, so it is not possible to accurately quantify how many tweeters the platform has.
According to Musk’s theory, the new implementation shows everyone how many unique people have seen a tweet, thereby proving “how much more alive Twitter is than it seems.”
The best example to understand what will happen to tweets is to take a look at the videos posted on the social network: they may have few interactions, but the account really shows that it has been seen by thousands or millions of users who have not interacted with it.
