Chaos on Twitter: workers fear that Musk will fire the entire workforce in Spain

    adminBy adminNovember 5, 2022No Comments2 Mins Read

A week after the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, announced the purchase of Twitter, his more than dubious business strategy continues to upset the thousands of workers on the social network’s staff. After the massive layoffs in the United States, Asia and much of Europe, employees in Spain now fear that the entire workforce will be fired.

Sources from Twitter workers have confirmed this to Efe, explaining that they fear the absolute “extinction” of the technology company’s staff in the national territory – an action that would mean the dismissal of thirty workers – and that they are already organizing to seek legal advice.

The sources of the company’s workers have reported that all the active workers of the company in Spain have received an email announcing that jobs are being cut, and urging them to wait to receive a communication about it.

It is speculated that the management of the business in Spain will be diverted to Ireland

The operating system of the company “Birdhouse” has been temporarily disconnected while the changes are executed, the same document indicates. Layoffs of employees outside the United States, as is the case in Spain, will be governed by the national legislation of each country.

Twitter employees in Spain continue to have access to their computers, according to the same sources, although they suspect that they will all be fired and the management of the company’s business in Spain will be diverted to Ireland, the same sources point out.

Elon Musk has paid 44,000 million for the social network

Elon Musk, the company’s new owner, said on Friday that the technology company loses four million dollars a day and, although he did not specify the total number of layoffs – the US press has estimated them at more than 3,700, which represents more than half of its global workforce.

In his profile on the social network, Musk justified the layoffs by saying that “there is no other choice when the company is losing about four million a day.”
