WhatsApp develops a function so that users can see that a message has been edited by its sender. This feature will be indicated by a label that will appear next to the modified text after it has been submitted.
WABetaInfo, an independent portal specialized in the instant messaging app, points out that once the text message has been sent, users will have a maximum time of 15 minutes to edit it so that the recipient receives the new version.
This same portal announced at the beginning of September that WhatsApp was developing a format to update the messages sent using an edited version and has recently shared a screenshot in which the result can be seen.
The new update for Android, released through the Google Play beta program, has warned that text messages that have been modified will include the indicative “edited” next to the new writing and the time of sending.

However, as with the “delete for everyone” feature, WhatsApp does not guarantee that the modified message will edit the original if the recipient does not turn on the device within a certain time.
The company has been working on this functionality for several months, which will allow editing of your text messages, as reported by WABetaInfo last June. WhatsApp had already talked about this option in 2017, although it was discarded shortly after its proposal.
At the moment, this functionality is under development and its release date is unknown. Nor has it been advanced whether users will be able to consult the modifications made, an option that Twitter does propose.
