WhatsApp is one of the most used applications in the world. However, even though chat is very handy, it does have some annoying limitations. For example, yes or yes a telephone line is needed to activate it.
This can cause problems if you want to use another WhatsApp account as it would require you to get another phone line in addition to your own, as well as a phone that supports “dual sim”, which not all do. However, this restriction can be circumvented anyway: by virtualizing a line, with an application called eSim.
The idea of a virtual SIM card allows to generate a user outside of a physical line. And while there are several applications that do this, it’s worth considering what exactly is being done when a line is virtualized.

What is a SIM and what is an eSIM
SIM cards are integrated circuits that store the phone number, along with other sensitive data such as international line identity and a unique serial code.
They are transferable between devices: just remove the card and put it in another phone to transfer the phone line and personal data. However, there is the so-called “electronic SIM”, or “eSIM”, which allows this small physical card to be virtualized.

An eSIM, or also called virtual SIM, is the evolution of the traditional card. Its name is due to “embedded Sim” which literally translates as integrated Sim as it is attached to the hardware of a mobile phone, a tablet or a smart watch.
In order for you to receive calls and connect to the wireless data network, your carrier must enable eSIM remotely. The maneuver similar to when one activates the roaming package from another country.

The truth is that the concept of virtual SIM is being installed more, especially now that the latest iPhone model no longer has a physical SIM, and probably other manufacturers imitate this model.
How to virtualize a SIM card
There are different applications to perform this kind of “tricks” on WhatsApp to be able to use it without a phone number. You can take as an example “eSIM Number” available on Google Play, one of the most downloaded apps.

The first thing to do is download and install it. Once on the device, you have to register with the real number, that is, where we have the physical SIM card. In the case of Spain, you must use the prefix +34 and once registered, in “Phone numbers” you can now choose another country to virtualize a phone number.
Already with the virtual number, the only important thing is to keep the application installed: logically, if it is deleted, this second line is lost.

The application allows, from its control panel, to use that line like any other: make calls, open applications and more (always with an Internet connection).
How to register WhatsApp with eSim
To activate a second WhatsApp line, you have to follow the normal steps of a physical mobile. The WhatsApp registration method is the same as always: if it is used on another phone, you need to open the application normally, enter the previously obtained virtual number and verify in the eSIM Number application for the verification SMS.
In this way it is possible to use two WhatsApp accounts on one phone. The problem with this app is that it is not free. But yes, it will always be cheaper than having to buy another phone. You can pay per month, per year or for three months.
