Organizations grouped in the Piquetera Unit (UP) reaffirmed a day of protest called for Tuesday with roadblocks in different parts of the country and epicenter in the city of Buenos Aires, where they will march from the Pueyrredón Bridge to the headquarters of the Ministry of Social Development, on Avenida 9 de Julio and Belgrano, demanding a “increase in social programs and food for community kitchens”.
“It will be a great day of protest, with many roadblocks in the interior of the country”the referent of the Polo Obrero (PO), Eduardo Belliboni, told Télam.

Under the slogan of “Not with the kids’ food”the piquetero organizations will mobilize from there to the headquarters of the Ministry of Social Development.
The new national day of protest had been announced last Friday at a press conference attended by, in addition to Belliboni, Mercedes “Mecha” Martínez, from the group the coordinator of neighborhood unity Movimiento Teresa Rodríguez (MTR); Mónica Sulle, referent of the Social Movement of Workers (MST); and Cristina Mena, from the MTR, among others.
“If there is no response, on Avenida 9 de Julio and throughout the country there is a piquetero camp. We call on all social organizations to join,” the leader Belliboni had advanced in the meeting with the press held in the vicinity of the Buenos Aires Obelisk.

The package of demands that will be expressed in tomorrow’s demonstration includes an “immediate” response to the “situation of misery, hunger and exploitation”, the “urgent” solution to the “lack of food” in soup kitchens and of tools in the work crews, and the request for an increase in social programs, as announced.

“The electoral campaign is not the only thing that happens in this country. It happens that for four, five months food has not been received in soup kitchens. The government has been making an adjustment”affirmed the referent of the PO, when renewing his criticism of the national government.
In this sense, he maintained that the resources that were destined to social plans “to pay an external debt from the IMF” and to the electoral campaign have been “diverted”, “leaving 100,000 people without any assistance from the State.”
