President Alberto Fernández heads this Monday the launch of the federal program My Connected Town, in the Buenos Aires town of Benavídez, Tigre district.

The program will provide Internet service to those who live in 377 Argentine towns that today do not have any type of connection or that have deficient services.

The event will be attended by the Chief of Staff, Agustín Rossi; the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo ‘Wado’ de Pedro; the Secretary of Public Innovation, Micaela Sánchez Malcolm, and the President of ARSAT, Facundo Leal.

My Connected Town is a program that seeks to guarantee access to satellite connectivity and digital resources to progressively strengthen local governments and with federal lines of work carried out by ARSAT and the Ministry of Public Innovationwith an investment in digital inclusion and new technologies of $761,129,032, reported the Presidency through a statement.

Thus, through satellite connectivity, Internet will be provided at open and closed points with the installation of public access points, indoor VSAT antennas, and an Internet service plan.

The acquisition of technological goods is done through the transfer of resources to the provinces for the computer equipment of the local governments that receive the connectivity.

In this way, there will be an offer of digital services and training for public administration agents to favor local governments: open government tools, integration into the use of platforms and applications for agile, sustainable and transparent management.

The Presidency also stated that between January and April 2023, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior and the Secretariat for Public Innovation, a survey of the beneficiary localities was carried out, the agreements were signed and a budget was granted for the purchase of equipment.

The localities were selected from the Federal Index of Territorial Inequity (IFIT) of the Municipal Observatory dependent on the Undersecretariat of Municipal Relations of the Ministry of the Interior.

The objective is to “reverse the degree of vulnerability of the telecommunications infrastructure of the localities” and “reach more than 350 towns and cities with connectivity solutions.”

Until September, the installation of satellite connectivity antennas through ARSAT is expected in conjunction with the Argentine Army.
