The young man who was selling cleaning products on public roads approached a woman who was waiting for a bus.
A taxi driver declared that the crime of a street vendor, murdered on Friday by a stab wound to the neck by a young man who apparently attacked the victim because he thought he wanted to rob his mother, in the Buenos Aires town of Banfield, occurred “very quickly ” and that the woman, after the fact, “wanted to ask for a remis” to leave the place.
Meanwhile, the defendant, identified as Christian Campos Couso (27) will be investigated in the next few hours by the prosecutor of the case, Javier Gramajo.
“The boy who was selling approached this person and a relative of this lady seems to have reacted to attack him,” Germán told the Todo Noticias channel in front of the police station where the incident occurred.
According to the driver, everything “was very fast, five minutes and it was all over” since “the boy was left here bloodied, seriously injured and died, sat on the bench and fell to the ground.”
“The volunteer firefighters who are around the corner helped him first, the ambulance took about 15 minutes, but the injury was very serious,” said Germán, who maintained that the victim used to sell in the area.
The man added that “the woman wanted to ask for a remis but they did not want to take her because of the situation and apparently they also grabbed her”, while “the boy tried to escape” but was apprehended.
According to the sources, at first it was revealed that it was a couple but later the investigators determined that the young man was the son of the woman, who testified as a witness.
The assailant was detained by the Police at the scene after the alert of passers-by.
The event occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Friday at 300 Maipú Street, between Belgrano and Pueyrredón, a few meters from the Banfield Maipú Theater, Lomas de Zamora district, in the southern area of Greater Buenos Aires.
Police and judicial sources informed Télam that the victim, who had not yet been identified, was working as a street vendor in that downtown area.
At that moment, the young man had an exchange of words with a woman asking her to buy him something until her son appeared and rebuked him because he apparently believed that he wanted to rob her.
According to the sources, the attacker extracted a knife with which he stabbed the merchant in the neck.
The victim was lying in serious condition, so the people who passed by the place called the emergency number 911.
Upon arrival, the officers found that the boy had died as a result of the injuries sustained.
Meanwhile, the Police apprehended the accused, who was placed at the disposal of the prosecutor Gramajo, in charge of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 1 of the Lomas de Zamora Judicial Department.
The investigators analyzed the security cameras of the block to corroborate what happened, although until now it was ruled out that the seller wanted to rob the woman and that it was a homicide in self-defense.
In addition, the investigations ensured that relatives or relatives of the young man go to the police station to identify him since he had no documentation among his clothes.
