Subway strike for next Wednesday.
The leadership of the Subway and Premetro Workers Union Association (Agtsyp) ratified this Tuesday that on Wednesday it will paralyze the services of lines B and C subway from 5.30 to 7.30, demanding “the immediate reduction of the working day to enjoy two francs.”
A document signed by the general and deputy secretaries, Roberto Pianelli and Néstor Segovia, indicated that the union and Buenos Aires officials held “successive hearings and private meetings” for months to demand this claim, and maintained that the union entity demonstrated “its good willingness to reach an understanding.
“Unfortunately, the union organization has not received a positive response from the Emova concessionaire until now and only evasions from the Sbase company,” said the document released by Enrique Rositto, press secretary of the union organization.
“The need to reduce the weekly working day is motivated by health issues to reduce exposure to asbestos, a carcinogenic mineral whose presence in the underground network was discovered in 2018. The union apologizes to users in the event that their trips are affected”the union leaders pointed out.
