    At the age of 96, the former governor of Santiago, Mercedes Marina Aragonés, died

    The former governor of Santiago del Estero Mercedes Marina “Nina” Aragonesex-wife of the provincial president Carlos Juárez, died this Tuesday at the age of 96, as confirmed by his lawyer, Francisco Cavallotti

    The lawyer confirmed to Télam that “Nina” Aragonés died around nine in the morning this Tuesday, at her home at Calle Alvarado 450, in the capital of Santiago, due to a “multi-organ failure”.

    At the same time, he stated that months ago, the former provincial president had been hospitalized as a result of bronchitis. However, she had managed to recover and was in her house.

    On Tuesday morning, as a result of “a multi-organ failure typical of his age,” he died.

    “She was a woman who marked the history of Santiago del Estero, since she promoted the retirement law for housewives, the law of quota for women, and she was never a lukewarm witness to history but a protagonist,” Cavallotti said.

    “Nina” Aragonés was known for leading the Justicialista Female Branch For several decades, from where she promoted occupation and trade workshops for women in a state of vulnerability, she held various public positions at different institutional levels such as national deputy, Minister for Women and in 2002 she was Governor of the Province.

    As reported by the family environment, his remains will be veiled in an intimate context and then transferred to the Parque de la Paz cemetery in the capital of Santiago.
